Before hearing additional updates from us, let's briefly review what we have done in the past few months or so to prepare for the trip:
On 14-16 Jan 2011, we attended the Rotary Foundation Regional Scholar Orientation Seminar (RSOS) organized for outbound ambassadorial scholars awarded by Rotary International. There were scholars coming from different Rotary International Districts. The seminar trained us on on how to develop and make speeches and presentations, and also provided us with opportunities to get to know each other better. For instance, we met the GSE Team from Taiwan, that would be going to Arizona, USA in 2011!
One of our team members, Michelle Cheung, was voted as one of the two best presenters!
For more information about the seminar, please visit the blog of RSOS Hong Kong.
Team USA touched down in Hong Kong on 25 Feb 2011. We met for the first time at the Welcoming Dinner at the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, where our exchange began. On the following day, we went to Ngong Ping 360 & visited the Big Buddha! The activity was also joined by the in-bound team's host families & friends.
To facilitate your understanding of the GSE between the two Rotary International Districts, you may visit the blog of TEAM USA.
In addition to our regular meetings during which we discussed our preparation for the trip, we have also attended a couple of Rotary meetings and did our mock presentation. We are trying to prepare & improve ourselves as much as possible!
Last but not least, thanks to everybody who have helped us in our preparation. In particular, we'd like to thank our GSE Team Leader Dr. Vito Lee, DGN Kenneth Wong, District Rotary Foundation Committee Chair Kenneth Chow, who have worked closely with us all along the way and provided much guidance to us.
That's our updates for now. We'll try to update the blog as soon as possible! As you can imagine, we are really busy preparing for the GSE, as well as keeping up with our health care work!!
