Portsmouth, New Hamshire

In the morning we crossed the bridge and arrived at Portsmouth from York. Like York, it is a beautiful city along the sea coast with a population of about 21,000. We had a chance to visit the city hall which was used to be a hospital and now functions as a government office building. The Mayor of the city is an honorary post and he works on Friday afternoon. Vito had a chance to preside at the council meeting while the mayor was not present. How wonderful!

Shortly afterwards, we paid a visit to the Seacoast Science Center and it was interesting to watch beautiful corals, blue lobsters, sea horse and various kinds of fish in the centre; it was also interesting to listen to the history of the adjacent park and the teaching gardens where some plants can be used as herbal medicine and the seeds of which were brought along back to the sixteen century.

Vocational Visit- 5 Star Elderly Living

Today we visited Sentry Hill Facility for Elderly Living in the morning. It was designed after the style of the grand hotels of the 1890's. We were fascinated by the grand and comfortable environment, and the standard of services povided. It provides different living facilities, depending on the level of care needed by the residents. It varies from independent living, assisted living, residential care, to memory impaired living.

In the afternoon, we visited Durgin Pines Nursing Home and Skilled Care Facility, which are run by the same institution as Sentry Hill. A day centre for children was situated at the same building. The kids there not only bring joy to the elderly there, but to us as well.

Absolutey makes your Mouth Watering!!!

We love Maine lobster!!!!!

It's a bird? It's a plane? It's Superman? It's clouds!!!!!

This time, absolutely is "As Seen On TV", we saw the sky welcoming us with beautiful clouds.
Visitors: Do leave your comment and tell us what you can see from the sign.  My guess is - a compliment from the God - "Good job and well done to the GSE HK team"!

Cooking demonistration!

We (Louise and Michelle) demonstrated a Hong Kong Dessert! Want to have a taste of it?  Come to Hong Kong!!!!

This is a famous dessert in Hong Kong, we called Walnut sweet.  Besides the yummy yummy taste of this dessert, it is also known as the "mind essence"!  Walnut is considered to increase the IQ level, and in Traditional Chinese Medicine concept, it also helps both the spleen (earth in TCM terms) and kidney (water in TCM terms).

There is some special elements about the dessert this time -
1. made by and ICU registered nurse & Chinese Medicine Practitioner
2. prepared in a great designed kitchen (designed by Mark Ergmann)
3. supervised by our beautiful hostess - Mrs. Mary Ellen Jendzejec
4. adding Maine twist (adding MAINE Maple syrup) by our brilliant host - Dr. Steve Jendzejec

Beautiful Sunday - What a fun day!!

It was our mid-term break. We went to the summit of Agamenticus Mountain, the highest place in York with a height of 691 feet, to have a bird’s eye-view on the city. The sky was extremely blue and cloud-less, there was the horizon on one side and the city on the other. There are various hiking routes, but time did not allow us to try one of those.

For reason unknown, we were put into the Old Gaol (Jail) which was built in 1719. Fortunately, we were detained there only for half an hour and were bailed out.

Highlight of the day would be the picking up Maine lobsters by the river side and the lobster bake at
Rotarian Mark E rgmann’s home in the evening.  Everybody was ever cheerful and left the dinner table with a full belly.

we  let the surgeon operate on the lobsters so his skills won't get rusty while in Maine...

Dinner with DG Ann Lee

Thanks to DG Ann Lee's warm hospitality, we spent a night having dinner at a Chinese Restaurant in Sanford. It was a reunion with the GSE Team and some other Rotarians from RI District 7780. We had an enjoyable dinner & we were delighted to have the time for fellowship. We ought to say the lobsters cooked in the Chinese way in this restaurant was at par!!
